Understanding Domestic Violence
Series of six-4 hour face to face workshops.
Online interactive class is a 26 class course.
Workshops are given in six increments covering the
total course content in those six workshops of four hours each.
This class is slightly modified for the therapist, but will have the same domestic violence content the offender sees when taking this class for court. PDF of each lesson will be the offender's version. This class outline, content, therapeutic methods, information, and format can be utilized in treatment of domestic violence offenders and victims.
This course helps counselors
understand the dynamic of domestic violence, recognizing domestic violence, and
tools for treatment of victim and offender. These classes cover domestic
violence cycle, effects of children, why spouses stay, healing process,
communication, fair fighting, time out rules, family of origin issues,
co-dependent behaviors, control and personal rights and boundaries, how
depression effects your control, co-dependent behaviors, self care related to
you and violence, prevention of child sexual abuse, self esteem, marital rape,
empathy, dynamics of offender behavior, the magnitude of domestic violence,
recognizing domestic violence, safety plan for avoiding re-offending, and more.
Course meets the qualifications for twenty-six hours of continuing education credit for
MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of
Behavioral Sciences. Refunds are given if the course is canceled. Enrollment
fee can be refunded or transferred to another class with 30 day notice prior to
scheduled class.
